The Creation of Ozwind Publishing, LLC

Most of you already know that last week I became an “indie” author. In doing so, I decided to do something not only to protect my work, but also to create credibility for the books I write. So, I am forming an LLC. Ozwind Publishing, LLC will be the designated representative for my novels as well as Jayme Ronan’s. We are meeting with the powers that be next week to ensure legal formation of this dream-come-true.
Ozwind banner (2)Ozwind is not a traditional publisher and it is not a vanity press. I’m not saying that it won’t grow into something larger, but right now, I’m starting small and slow. I’ve seen what wild, unbridled growth can do to a company. I’ve seen how it can destroy the personal touch of a business. I do not want to do anything half-way. So, Ozwind will not be accepting submissions for some time. I don’t want to leave a legacy of disorganization and empty promises.

I know that some might feel that the creation of this “business” is a waste, but actually it is quite wise. It is a legal way to protect your property as well as to provide a point of reference to my work. It seems that, locally, people still expect an author to be associated with a publisher. They haven’t made the leap to the indie world nor do they understand the discipline it takes to be an indie. So, in order for me to keep local interest, this needed to happen.

ozwindI want to thank Select-O-Grafix for creating my banner and logo for the website and Facebook page.

So, now, the next thing…

In April, my books we be available. BETWEEN WORLDS will be a trilogy. THE FINE LINE & VOICE OF THE DEAD (formerly known as IDOLUM) will go up immediately for sale in April. THROUGH GLASS DARKLY will go up for pre-order, more than likely. My goal is to schedule at least one local appearance each month starting in May and running up until the end of November.

After BETWEEN WORLDS is finished, I will be working on an anthology of paranormal stories which will hopefully be released in October. KACONS OF DARKNESS will be further down on that list. I’m not sure if it will be a stand alone or the start of a series. But, since I have the freedom of choice now, I don’t feel the pressure of having to make a decision right away.

There you have it! If you would like to learn more about Ozwind, please visit the website and the Facebook page.

Have a wonderful day!

Upcoming Events: September, October, November, & December

Hi everyone and I hope this post finds you having a great Sunday! I am posting to let you know the line up for the remainder of this year. It has been an exciting one, hasn’t it? So much has happened since January 2013 and here we are staring into the face of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!

So, here are all the exciting things that are happening:

On my YouTube Channel ( the Bumps in the Night series is coming to a close. There’s only three more episodes left (9/19/13, 9/26/13, and 10/3/13). However, I will be continuing my glance into the paranormal as we discuss some other subjects. The line up is as follows:

10/17/13: Shadow People

11/7/13: Ghosts

11/21/13:  Why are Scary Movies so Scary?

12/5/13: Spirit Guides

12/19/13: Gifts of the Supernatural Kind

65a52968-e08a-4cd6-aea4-53bdfab6dceb_world_of_ink_network_logoAs for events and appearances, I will be at the Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant, WV on Saturday, 9/21/13. In October, I will be setting up a booth at the Waverly Zombie Walk (10/12/13). On October 25th at 10 p.m. EST I will be a guest on Willow Cross‘s excellent blogtalkradio series ( . November and December appearances are still in the works, but it will likely be at The Tea Caddy of Jackson.

As for social media events, I will be setting up another “Like” party for Southern Ohio Ghost Hunters (10/28-10/31/13) and Idolum (11/25-11/28/13). “Like” parties are awesome and a great way to encourage traffic to your site.  There will be winners selected from these two events for free ebooks of Between Worlds (volume 1) and Idolum. Last, but not least, the Aspiring Authors Autumn Blog Tour kicks off on November 1st and lasts until the 30th. Two winners will be selected from that group for ebooks as well.

I have also decided to come up with yet a third career (lol!). I have decided to become a marketing coach as well as a party host. I want to start out with the hosting very slow because I’m limited by time constraints as well as my other obligations to working outside of the home. As a marketing coach, I can be little more flexible.

What’s Next?

Hi everyone! I know this is my second post of the day, but I wanted to answer the burning question everyone is asking me right now: WHAT’S NEXT?

1236822_195004017340661_815620536_nFirst, let’s look at what’s been accomplished. In January 2013 I self published The Fine Line. By March 2013, that book was picked up by a talented small publishing company, PDMI. They released it under a new title, Between Worlds (volume 1): The Fine Line, through Injected Ink Media. This all happened because I presented them with a copy of Undone for their review. Undone then became Idolum: Visions of the Undone thanks to the creative mind of Tc McKinney. His vision and passion for my work and his wife’s knack for perfected formatting gave wings to my dream of becoming a published author. So what’s coming up?

Right now I’m working on the second installment of the Between Worlds series. It’s title: Through Glass Darkly. The book focuses on Olivia Gregory. For anyone out there that hasn’t read BW volume 1, Olivia is the daughter of Matthew Gregory and the stepdaughter of Robin Hillard-Gregory. These are the two main characters from The Fine Line.

Olivia doesn’t turn out quite the way readers think she will. However, I’m not going to give much more away than that… for now. Although for all of you Idolum fans who are wondering if Lauren Harris and Nick Bennette will have a second book devoted to them, you might be interested to know that in a sense I’m not done with them yet. Lauren and Nick will be teaming up with Olivia in Through Glass Darkly. My hope is to complete the manuscript and hand it over to the capable hands of PDMI by the first part of 2014. Hopefully, readers will have the book in hand by mid-2014. From there volume 3 and/or volume 4 is next on the creative agenda. I am undecided on whether or not I want to devote one book to Hope Gregory (daughter of Matthew and Robin) and a separate book to David Gregory (the only son of Matthew and Robin) or combine to two into one volume. No matter what, you can be sure that more is coming for the Between Worlds Series in 2015.

After that, there are three more books coming, at least that’s my hope, all stand alone.

An Idolum launch party is scheduled for Friday the 13th on Facebook. The Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant will be one of the largest events I’ve ever participated in (I’m crossing my fingers I’m prepared). That is scheduled for mid-September. The Waverly Zombie Walk is next, scheduled for October 12th. That opens the door for the holiday season and books make excellent Christmas gifts, after all. Hopefully I’ll be back at the Tea Caddy and then possible at Baby Cakes Bakery in Oak Hill, Ohio around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Next year the plan is to attend the Dayton Ohio Author Expo in April and another Author Expo in May in New Port, Kentucky. All of the while, I’ll be working on my YouTube channel to bring you new episodes each Thursday night.

Shooo *wipes forehead*

Contests? I’ll see what I can cook up. One thing is for sure, I promised all of the aspiring authors out there that I would be hosting a blog tour just for them and I will follow through on that promise.

As you can see, I’ll be busy, busy, busy, but I’m never too busy for questions and suggestions.

So stick around… things are just getting started.

The Fascination of Future Projects & the Mystery of the Mothman

Happy Saturday everyone! Thank God for the weekend!

Friday was certainly exciting in my world. My publisher has been working extra hard for me and has been contacting local libraries and businesses to stock my book. Signings and book tours are a direct part of that. Our first success from the inquires came yesterday. From those of you that are in or near Point Pleasant, WV (Mothman Territory), I am having a book signing at the Mason County Library on July 27th. Yes, that’s next weekend!

In case you’re not aware of the Mothman and what he’s about, he is legendary and was reportedly spotted for the first time in 1966.  A book was published by Gray Barker in 1970 and yet another book was published in 1975 by John Keel called The Mothman Prophecies. This book indicated that the Mothman was directly related to a several unexplained events in the area, including the collapse of the Silver Bridge. In 2002 a movie was made of this book staring Richard Gere.

Mothman_statue_2005Many believe the Mothman is of alien origins. Many, of course, are skeptical. However, Point Pleasant must put quite a bit of validity to the possibly because a statue of the creature stands in town square and a festival happens every year to honor the Mothman. This leads to my next subject.

I didn’t know that they actually had a festival until a co-worker mentioned me setting up there. When I looked at the website, it sounded perfect. Because I write paranormal novels, why not? By that time my second book will be out. What a great place to meet other paranormal people and paranormal writers?

Also, after a very successful production meeting, I have decided to start putting my YouTube channel to some good use. I am going to do a 10 week series about the paranormal. I am going to discuss my archived blog entries from my Bumps in the Night series. I will also probably try to do a weekly show about other things. Maybe I’ll feature some paranormal investigations I’ve done. I’m not sure of the complete content, but I do know it will focus on the wonders of paranormal belief and investigation. Perhaps I’ll even talk about Big Foot, Aliens, and other things that make skeptics cringe.

So here is the upcoming schedule of events as of now:

July: The Tea Caddy In Jackson began stocking Between Worlds: The Fine Line

Signing at the Mason County Library (7/27/13)

 fine line cover

AugustIdolum officially releases to Amazon and other book locations

September: Book signing at Baby Cakes Bakery and Bistro (9/14/13)

The Mothman Festival (9/21-22)

October: Waverly Zombie Walk (10/12)

Other projects in the works are some signings in Lexington, Kentucky and Chillicothe, Ohio.

Thanks for following and reading 🙂 Have a great rest of your day folks!
