A Personal Share about BLESSINGS

You know, I can’t believe it. I cannot believe that I was able to complete a book from start to finish without paying hundreds of dollars to someone else. I now understand and can edit a book, format a book, build a cover, wrap a cover for paperback, and upload it to Kindle, Createspace, and Smashwords. I got advice from some authors and customer service when I needed help, but all in all, I did it. I didn’t need to hire anyone. The most I have in this project is $182. $60 of that was for nothing, but the last time I did this, I spent a whole lot more than $182.

I’m sure not everything is perfect in the book. I’m sure there are typos, and I actually warn readers about that. No one’s perfect. Still, this a huge milestone not only for me but for Ozwind. This means that I understand and can manage absolutely everything Ozwind has to offer.

I’m not tooting my own horn, so please don’t think that. I just never believed I would be able to accomplish this. I am a beginner and as I use the system, I know I will get better at it. It’s a learning curve, but I took notes and have researched, educating myself about the process. This, to me, is what being an indie author really means. Becoming an indie is the best thing I ever did.

Here’s my fear… I have built this story up so much in my mind, that I’m afraid it won’t impact folks the way I want it to. I want people to be entertained and I want people to enjoy the book. I think every author fears that their book won’t be well received. I felt that way about the other three, but this book is different for me. This signifies a dark experience in my life. It signifies catharsis. It is me, pouring my soul out on the pages. I think that is why this book means so much to me; it’s personal. And this is my first YA book.
