Reality abruptly absorbed her thoughts and prayers. Olivia realized she had cut herself off from human interaction and true emotional contact with anyone. She knew she spent a great deal of her time meditating and focusing on Amelia, as well as her continual recovery.
Then the word “fear” popped into her brain. She was afraid to get close to anyone. She was afraid of the cravings for the drugs. She didn’t want anyone to see that part of her; the caged animal still fighting to be tame. She felt unworthy of someone as respectable as Danny. Granted, she didn’t know him all that well, but she could certainly read him. He was a kind soul and gentle in spirit.
The self-doubt tightened around her body. She wondered if she could do her job effectively. She had no idea what she was doing. Nevertheless, she hoped to learn and she needed to learn fast.
