“Tea Please…”

So, when I’m not writing, marketing, and doing all of the author-related stuff, I have another life.  In “real” life I work in the very stressful field of child welfare.  I am actually the director of the county’s child welfare agency.  Relaxation is key to keeping your head up and staying positive despite the chaotic storm swirling around you. So, I encourage workers (including myself) to get out of the office during lunch.  Today for lunch a small group of us went to little local establishment called The Tea Caddy of Jackson.  This blog is intended as a review of the business.

Now, I’m not much of a tea or coffee drinker, but I didn’t have to be to enjoy this place!  They sold everything from jewelry to furniture to dishes to purses (quilted purses–right up my alley!).  I was very impressed with everything about the place, but the atmosphere is what sold me.  Three words:  calm, peaceful, inviting.

The colors were very earthy and calming.  There were little nooks where you could bring a book, a laptop, ipad, or tablet (or whatever electronic device you prefer) and just curl up.  There were quaint little tables for two or three.  In the back there were bigger tables that suited our group.  Everywhere you looked there was beauty; gorgeous paintings, nicknacks, and there were two floor lanterns I could have taken home with me.

The owner explained to us how she does a “pour over.”  I hadn’t heard of this before and, like I said, I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but I’d be willing to try a cup being made during a “pour over.”  She also explained that the business hosts a father-daughter event and that every Saturday night they have live music.  She explained her goal of renovating the upstairs and allowing a local high school group to do some things in that area of the building.  Her enthusiasm was truly heartfelt.  She hosts a book club and many other events at the tea room.

The overall rating I give this little corner of heaven is five stars * * * * *

Service was superb, the atmosphere was tranquil, the prices were very reasonable, and the philanthropy that the owner is involved in is inspiring.  So, good job Tea Caddy!  Keep the tea coming!

I encourage my readers to visit them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Tea-Caddy-of-Jackson/128357041498 and if you are in the local area, stop by and enjoy a quiet cup of tea and a delicious dessert!
